Hi, I am Dr Marjolein Broers.

I originally trained as a Health and Clinical Psychologist in the Netherlands, and then moved to Australia to complete a research PHD. While I intended to stay for only 3 years, I met my husband and stayed instead for 16 years.

During this time, I worked for many years in policy and strategy roles improving work-life balance in the workplace. I even helped with the introduction of paid maternity and paternity leave, as well as various flexible work practices across Australia, an achievement of which I am incredibly proud.

In 2015, I moved with my husband, our 2 kids and dog to London, where I retrained as a transformational coach with the London Animas Centre for Coaching and started working as a skills coach in the Financial Services Sector. Looking to expand my skills as a coach, I started to study and practice more body-oriented practices, taking up yoga and gaining a breathwork qualification.

In the last 2 years I have increasingly focused on learning about the impact of the nervous system on the body and mind. I now integrate transformational coaching with body work, such as breathwork and movement, to enhance regulation of the nervous system, emotional intelligence, and improve overall well-being.

What others say about me

This is about taking a useful pause and constructively understanding how to manage your stress. I took this course in a very difficult time for me, and I wasn’t able to apply and understand everything immediately, but it ‘stayed’ with me. And the learning resurfaced. It took me out of my hamster wheel to nurture myself. Worth trying.

Before starting the sessions with Marj, I hoped to refresh practices which give my life balance. The sessions with Marj were really enjoyable. They really helped me to reflect on things in my life that bring me energy and things that drain energy. The combination of education and breathwork created much needed space to gain perspective and bring balance to my busy life.

 Zoë Fleetwood, solicitor, London

“I was one of the first people to be coached by Marj when she started her training. My goals were to find more direction career wise and improve my mindset towards singing.

Coaching has helped reduce my anxiety and tendency to beat myself up for not achieving my expectations. Marj has selected exercises to help me process my thoughts and feelings and seek other perspectives; through which I’ve learned to be kinder to myself. I’ve gone from ‘stuck in a rut’ to a calmer, less blinkered person and I’m working on what I want to do. This way of thinking is still new to me but I know I’m on the right path in terms of how I want to approach life. I know I wouldn’t have made that change if it weren’t for Marj.

Marj has helped me with prioritising, planning and managing the expectations of my goals. We’ve also taken a deep dive into how I perceive and talk to myself and the ‘truths’ that I use to view the world. With Marj’s guidance I’ve been able to challenge my perfectionist tendencies and view that whatever I do is ‘never enough’, which were stopping me from even trying. Marj has helped me see the progress I’ve made instead of comparing myself to an unrealistic future self or other people. What I really value is that Marj has never judged what I’ve shared and I really appreciate her interest, enthusiasm and support. It’s amazing to see someone do what they love, you can only take inspiration from that.”

Marietta Smith

“Marj is the real deal. Having never done coaching before I didn't expect it to have the impact it did. I had been made redundant and I was struggling on focusing on my goals to move forward from an awful period. Marj was methodical in her methods and really made me think of my sticking points and find the solutions. Her impact was quite quick and it made me think and reassess how I solved by problems. Really looked forward to our sessions as I knew I would always walk away with something. She is a real gem.”

Chetna Patel

“Marjolein is an incredible coach, she is warm and personable, she was able to help me to find solutions that actually worked for me. Helping me focus on what I can change and then actually making positive change which has lasted. I honestly feel that the time I spent with Marjolein has helped me face new challenges.”

S Rivers

“When I was at risk of redundancy and my confidence was lacking I heard about life coaching and thought it could be really valuable to help me to work through things. The coaching sessions with Marj really helped me to gain clarity about what I wanted to do next after redundancy and to process my feelings.

Life coaching enabled me to work though how I was feeling and be able to deal with my personal situation. Before the session the feelings and problems I was experiencing felt overwhelming but I was given the space and tools by Marj to reflect on things and turn issues into positive actions that I could own.”
